Select an instrument connected to the interface board or the engine cluster, and you will see that you can first select a category (''All'' by default), and then the instrument that is compatible with the selected gauge or engine cluster. The category lets you filter certain categories. This is particularly useful when you have selected a single needle gauge, as there are many different instruments compatible with these gauges.

Air Manager is able to control Flight Illusion gauges and engine clusters. This page describes how to add and configure a Flight Illusion interface board or engine cluster, and how to create your own script to control Flight Illusion hardware.

Adding hardware

Air Manager 4.x

Interface board

Go to the Home tab and click Device, select Flight Illusion interface board, click 'Next' and select the corresponding COM port, then click 'Add'. The interface board will become visible in the list, and when it is connect (see State), it will start scanning for gauges. Once the scanning is completed, press the triangle to the left of the interface board symbol to see the list of gauges that were found. To manually scan for gauges, right click and select 'Scan for gauges'.

I/O board

Go to the Home tab and click Device, select Flight Illusion I/O board, click 'Next' and select the corresponding COM port, then click 'Add'. The State tells you if the I/O board is either connected or disconnected.

Engine cluster

Go to the Home tab and click Device, select Flight Illusion engine cluster, click 'Next' and select the corresponding COM port and engine cluster type, then click 'Add'. The State tells you if the engine cluster is either connected or disconnected.

Air Manager 3.x

Interface board

Go to the Device tab and click Device, select Flight Illusion interface board and the corresponding COM port, then click 'Add'. The interface board will become visible in the device list, and when it is connect (see State), it will start scanning for gauges. Once the scanning is completed, press the triangle to the left of the interface board symbol to see the list of gauges that were found.

Engine cluster

Go to the Device tab and click Device, select Flight Illusion engine cluster, the corresponding COM port and the engine cluster type, then click 'Add'. The State tells you if the engine cluster is either connected or disconnected.

Assigning an instrument

Select a gauge connected to the interface board or the engine cluster, and you will see that you can first select a category (All by default), and then the instrument that is compatible with the selected gauge or engine cluster. The category lets you filter certain categories. This is particularly useful when you have selected a single needle gauge, as there are many different instruments compatible with these gauges. Air Manager will already do its best to filter and to only show the instruments that are compatible with the selected gauge or engine cluster.
