Windows

This section describes how to install Air Manager on the Windows platform. Both 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows are supported.

Install Java

Air Manager requires at least Oracle Java JRE (8) to run. You can download the Java JRE here. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Install Air Manager

Download the latest Air Manager for Windows here:

Run the downloaded executable and follow the on-screen instructions.

By default, Air Manager will install in the "Program Files" folder. A shortcut will be created on the desktop.

Install the Flight Simulator plugin(s)

Download the latest Flight simulator plugins for Windows here:

Run the downloaded executable and follow the on-screen instructions.

The plugin installer will check the system for all FSX, Prepar3D and X-Plane installations. It shows what simulator software was found and if the plugin(s) is/are installed successfully.

Mac OS

This section dicribes how to install Air Manager on the Mac OS platform. Both 32 and 64 bit versions of Max OS are supported.

Install Java

Air Manager requires Oracle Java JRE (8) to run. You can download the Java JRE here. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Install Air Manager

The Air Manager zip file comes with a "AirManager.dmg" file.

  • Mount this image by double clicking on it.
  • Move the AirManager.app file to your applications folder.
  • Start Air Manager from your applications folder.

Install X-plane Plugin

Air Manager comes with it's own X-plane plugin, which you'll find in the 'X-plane plugin/Air Plugin' folder. Copy this folder to your X-plane installation folder. 'X-plane folder'/resources/plugins/

Example directory structure: 

./X-plane/resources/plugins/Air Plugin/32/mac.xpl
./X-plane/resources/plugins/Air Plugin/64/mac.xpl
...

X-plane 9: When using X-plane 9, move the .\Air Plugin\32\mac.xpl file to .\Air Plugin\mac.xpl

Example directory structure: 

.\Air Plugin\mac.xpl

Linux

This section discribes how to install Air Manager on linux platform. Both 32 and 64 bit versions of linux are supported. Note that linux is supported from Air Manager V1.1.

Install Java

Air Manager requires Oracle Java JRE (8) to run. Because of the wide range of Linux distributions, there isn't one specific way of installing Java. Follow the link below to learn how to install Java on Ubuntu, which is the most common Linux distribution.

Installing Oracle java on Ubuntu

You can check if Java is successfully installed by issuing the "java -version" command in a terminal. This shows you if Java is installed correctly, and which version.

Example result (doesn't have to be exactly the same): 

java version "1.8.0_45"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_45-b18)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.45-b08, mixed mode)

Install Air Manager

The Air Manager zip file comes with a "Air Manager" directory.

  • Change the persmission of the "AirManager.sh" script. "sudo chmod +x AirManager.sh"
  • Starting the script will start Air Manager.

Install X-plane Plugin

Air Manager comes with it's own X-plane plugin, which you'll find in the 'X-Plane plugin/Air Plugin' folder. Copy this folder to your X-plane installation folder. 'X-plane folder'/resources/plugins/

./X-plane/resources/plugins/Air Plugin/64/lin.xpl

X-plane 9: When using X-plane 9, move the .\Air Plugin\32\lin.xpl file to .\Air Plugin\lin.xpl

Configuring Air Manager

The first time you start Air Manager, you might have to do some configuration. To do this, go to the Settings tab. These are the 3 most important settings.

Flight simulator

Select the flight simulator you are using. This can be X-Plane, FSX or Prepar3D. If you decide to run a different simulator, you will have to change the simulator you had selected in Air Manager.

Input mode

Select your input mode to control instruments. This can be done with your mouse or, if you have a touchscreen, by touch input. If you do want any input at all, you can select 'Off'.

Flight simulator connection

If you run the simulator and Air Manager on separate computers, then fill in the IP address of the computer that is running the simulator.
