AM CTD

#1 Post by Keith Baxter »

Hi,
AM4.2 Beta 28 with plugin 4.1 CTD if video instruments are started before the sim.

Using XP12 and the 737 Zibo.
You can test with this instrument. It can be reproduced more easily.

This instrument is a simple one line code. It is not easily reproduced but it does CTD

Hi,

I am not to sure if this is important, because you do not get CTD if the panel is set to start when switching to airframe.

But I suppose if a user starts panel then starts the sim it CTD

It also crashes here, but... You're adding a video stream in a flight simulator callback. Which means that with every call from the simulator a new stream is added.
You can add a check that sets a variable when the stream has been added. But isn't it better to add the stream anyway, and only set the message canvas according to the data from the simulator?

In any case, I have added a check to your script to quickly see if it still crashes. It doesn't, which of course make sense.

Ralph,

OK that makes sense. I will try it. Thank you for checking.

@Ralph started the video stream outside the function and that seems to have fixed it.
Something for others to be aware of.

@Ralph

That fis works perfect. I have added most to a panel and I do not get CTD.

Just need to add some corresponding bezels. The instruments are meant to be used on different monitors behind physical bezels. But can also be used in a panel.

It seems that the streaming works quite well. System performance is a bit of a bottle neck. Two G1000's on one Raspberry Pi 4 is too much, the Pi 5 might be able to do it. Maybe we can get the hardware decoding reliably on there some day.

Have you guys noticed much lag - if any ? - compared to the very first tests ?
For example, the fmc when other multiple displays running ?
Thanks

With live numbers, like EGT, I see a slight lag/delay. I can't say exactly how much, but I guess around 100 ms or less.

Hello Keith, many thanks that is a really good demo. It looks very very impressive with minimal delay. Just what the doctor ordered ;)
I very much appreciate you presenting that.
Also, Ralph, 100ms is nothing. I can live with that.

I haven't been so good recently medically so have had little time to test anything at all. Hopefully things improve as I have had my sessions of radiotherapy. I might one day get back to full time 'simming' :)

Thanks for the feedback
