Most UI frameworks just pass the ENTER keystroke to the object in focus.

Here the Enter key is not doing anything (not validating the field, not going to next field for which this is the tab key responsibility), so it would be better to disallow the Enter key usage on all controls on the form, but on the OK button ... Am I correct ?

Hi,

It is flipping the boolean fields, and doing a new line on the description text field.

I understand @Corjan, this is why I suggested to disable Enter key action for unwanted control and maintain it on the "Ok" button. In any case, are you using Visual Studio environment for Air Manager coding, in which every single form parameter and building could be done programatically ?

Hi,

I don't understand anymore :). First you say you want to validate on ENTER on all nodes, and now you only want the ENTER to work on the OK button?
Anyways, this is not a big deal. The only place where this is really a thing (if it even is..) is the Create/edit tab plugin info.

Usage is now consistant across the board, where every node can do its own implemetnation.

This is the last I will say on the subject,

1 - Never said this @Corjan, only said "entered" data in field then use Enter key to validate the form, nothing more and same principle is miss in a few area ...
SimPassion wrote: Mon Nov 13, 2023 7:25 pm Additionally, I'm rather focusing on Enter key handling feature in every area which needs validation at some point. An example through thousands would be on the Instrument information popup where I would see the values entered in every single expected data entry field, next pressing Enter key would validate the form and close the related popup window. Indeed not only on this example, assuming the Enter key handling is awaited in every location where there's manual data entry or selection, each of every single validation required should allow this behavior ... Not sure if this is expected as requested ?
Again I'm not focusing only on last example with screenshot shown from @frumpy
2 - When I say in each area in AM, I mean on each single form where validation is required :

In the Home tab :

<Add> button requires "Enter" key validation :

<Flash> button requires "Enter" key validation :

Not to miss the Instrument Information form already mentioned and there's also a few of not yet mentioned ...

+1 on what SimPassion wrote, but I admit I have noticed the "enter-behavior" only when sending test data to the instrument. Controlling AM should be consistent
and doing it by keyboard helps the workflow.

One other cosmetic thing I came across is the somewhat confusing display of connected hardware. At a glance, it looks like the hardware is an instrument of a panel,
regardless if the panel is opened or not. Perhaps an extra field, like "Connected Hardware" (or maybe an added divider?) would make it more easy to understand?

Hi,

Yeah, we are thinking of revamping the UI a bit.

Wanne get rid of the top ribbon bar, or al least make it smaller somehow.
Distinction between devices and panels etc is indeed also a good point.

+1 ;)
Definitely get rid of the ribbon bar or at least make it optional or extremely small - preferably none at all, just menus.Joe

+1 For upcoming changes
For me though, Joe, I guess optional would be the best, as there's different feeling in there, on AM usage 😉
