Air Manager on Arch Linux?

#1 Post by felipescotti »

Hello Guys,

I have my PC all settled with Arch Linux, but I'm struggling to find a way to install the Air Manager 3.7.

Any chance I can install and run Air Manager 3.7 on Arch Linux?

Many Thanks!

3.x is as it is, no development.
For 4.x any Debian 10 or up based Linux distribution (64 bit only).

Yes, I have the license to use the 3.7 version, but on the instalation guide of both 3.7 and 4.x says it only works on debian based with apt-get.

I got rid of windows for good and Arch Linux is the ones that have been working flawlessly for all my needs for a while, I'm learning it but I'm still new. The Air Manager is the only program I use that I didn't manage to install but I read that it's possible to convert debian packges to use on Arch, so I'm trying to find out how realistic is this to the Air Manager (if someone already tryied or successfully did it).

In this stage, I'm trying to avoid learning another OS from zero. Also read that Debian is not as good as Arch in terms of installing proprietary drivers for the VGA for exemple (which I need to run the x-plane).

Thanks!

There are no requirements for 3.x on the wiki as far as I know.
Why not use something like Ubuntu?

It says:
'Air Manager V3 installation only works on Debian distributions that support apt-get'
(screenshot attached).

I tried Ubuntu twice, but is not my thing, dislike bloatware and other things.
Arch gives full control, and have been working flawlessly since I installed it.
But I guess the only way to run the Air Manager will be giving a try for Debian, though I don't think it will perform like Arch.

Hi @felipescotti, the Debian area is rich ...

SimPassion, it's an honor see you here. :D

I see, Debra Lynn and Ian Murdock have many many kids.

I'll certainly give it a try if I don't manage to run the air manager on Arch.

I like the idea of having the Debian stability but on the other hand, Arch being bleeding edge, has more chances of having everything running as best it can be.

Hard choice
