You don't need closed loop but you can easily make it from ANY nema motor with an exposed end shaft and any standard stepper controller.
Using the small opposing polar magnet you can us it one the end of any exposed motor shaft

Karl's designs are great in the plastic way but after that ......... :? :)

It is not rocket surgery

Enjoy..
👍 I have it in my wish-list, also available by Qty 3 / 4 / 5 and even 12, not already purchased though
Hi Gilles sir.
I have about 20 here

Absolutely amazing piece of kit. !

These are nice and cheaper solution than the P3022-V1-CW360, the counter-side is we have to make more trials and error to get the proper positioning of both magnet and board together with proper experiment and tuning. Though I will surely opt-in at first for the AS5600 when time will come, to see if I could get good results for the throttle revival, for which I have not any single piece of electronic inside, just the levers with pusher part on each single through the 3 present, so I have to extend them with rods on which I will glue the magnet I think.

Wowww 😮, to get an idea, just seen the final price for one piece ...

The board is cheap for one piece, however we ending with a shipment amount of 68.66€ 🙃

Hi,

I think those are a good option. However one still needs a motor driver.

What about these? Comes with magnet and all. Can AM drive these boards @Ralph . Can one use the VID66-06 option?

It has a step and direction pin, so in theory it should work.

Awesome Ralph.

So it only takes 2 Arduino I/O pins? No need for switches etc...

There's the enable pin which you need to pull to ground it seems, probably also good to have a sort of emergency stop :)

Hi,

Yes this is looking like a good option. For non drive mode one would need to disable the stepper so that the throttles can be used manually.
I am sure we can work out code for this.
Will revert when the bits arrive and I get to that point. Still three weeks away I would think.
