Knobster Partially Working Issue

#1 Post by scrapthedog »

Hi, I have not used Air Manager for a few months and after running it once again it needed an update for which I have installed to version 4.1.6.
My PC is running Windows 11.
I then checked that AM was activated. I am using AM on a touch screen monitor and enabled touch via Control Panel > Tablet PC Settings and confirm touch is working fine.
There is a Knobster also connected (which was purchased from Sim Innovations 16/11/2021).
The issue I have is that the Knobster will turn the instrument knobs perfectly but there is no movement on the gauge itself. Example, the heading knob turns but the heading bug does not move. I also have the same issue if I use the mouse.
The display panel is set at display 2 on AM, mouse and touch are enabled and Knobster (A) is showing connected.
I believe there is no requirement for a specific driver.
The Knobster is showing in Device Manager Universal Serial Bus devices - no issues
Also tried 3 different cables.
Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

If you have the same with the mouse, then it is just a regular connection issue.

Thanks for your most valued assistance.!
Certainly not what I expected after toying with AM and the Knobster for half of the day let alone spending over EUR 200.00 with Sim Innovations.

Not sure what you expected... ? Maybe I am missing something? It is not out of laziness. The wiki explains in full detail how to check your simulator connection.

It was not about what I expected but the rather blunt attitude in the way it was presented.
I certainly tried my very best and took my time to present to you all the pertinent details of what I have tried.
Maybe it's a generation thing, but certainly a little civility in ones reply to a customer is appreciated.

So I've read through the wiki link.

Is the simulator running on the same computer? If so, then please try 127.0.0.1
I'm not sure if the simulator is running in your screenshot, but you see that it says that Air Manager is not connected, also indicated in the plugin log. So if you have the IP address set up correct, then there's still something blocking the connection.

Do you have the AM plugin installed? That's a separate installer from the main application. Without this, AM can't talk to the sim. Considering it's not connecting to the sim, that would be the logical first place to look.

Ralph,
thanks for your reply.
Yes the sim is running on the same PC, however in the screenshot I had actually disconnected the sim as the GPU was getting rather hot.
I used 127.0.0.1 as your suggestion and everything is now good.
Thanks for your assistance and really appreciated after many hours on end of frustration.

Crunchmeister,
thanks for your input, also really appreciated with your suggestion. I had already installed and was aware that this was a requirement but I guess it's probably a common issue especially for new users.
Thanks again.!
