Symlinks

#1 Post by The Artful Dodger »

Hello, All:

I saw there was an earlier question about symlinks but it was a different situation. My question involves a symlink "redirecting" the location of the OPEN_DIRECTORY (where all of the instruments are stored) to another partition, away from the C: drive. Is this acceptable to AM? The reason I want to do this was made very clear to me late last week.

Over the last couple of weeks, for various reasons, I have been forced to install a fresh copy of Windows on my laptop. The first time I did it, luckily I had just been editing one of my instruments, and I remembered to make a copy of the folders. The last time, however, I came very close to forgetting that I had been editing and did not have a copy of the changes I had made and I almost lost them.

So, the reason I wish to use this OS system is to avoid the possibility of this loss from happening in the future. Will there be a problem with the correct operation of AM (and thus AP) if I make this redirection?

Thanks in advance.

Sparky
