Just wondering who helped Sim Innovations products going forward on Air Manager products line @Corjan @Ralph, is it only 99% side ? Do we have to stop here our involvement on forums because we feel UI un-friendly on usage and requests to improve it not heard ?Corjan wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 4:40 pm Hi,
Well, requests are also made for Home tab here... normally a devs shouldn't have to come there.
In every piece of software, there is a tradeoff between user friendlyness and flexibility. Like you said, if 99% don't need a feature, why only add it for the 1%? It will become worse of it for the majority.
I feel like in this case, adding grouping to the create/edit will only make it more complicated. A typical dev wouldn't need groups at all.
And I'm not feeling attacked, don't worry about that. Just having a different opinion on the matter.

Hi,
It is not the fact of not recognising the hard work some people put into Air Manager and its instruments.
This is something we are thanksfull for off course.
I just don't want the AM interface to become to cluttered.
When you use a tool a lot, it is easy to want more and more things to tailer it to your workflow.
My goal here is to also keep the interface clean enough so that a newbie can also quickly find its way around.

Hi,
I am not sure we have the correct recipe that satisfies dev's, users and the SI view.
But It is clear that the dev's are wanting something different.

Haha, yeah, that is clear
Only having one application, it is harder to satisfy diffent kinds of users...

Just a thing which appears to me not going into the proper direction ...Corjan wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 4:54 pm Hi,

Not the first time we've been said SI has chosen the proper direction for UI enhancements in place of customers willing and I guess we, as instruments coders on a day to day basis, are very uncomfortable by proper organization in the UI and in the lack of improvements in the way we requested them, very unwanted situation indeed and eventually, which performed outside the habits usage rules in editors-customers relationships over the market, very unusual in fact !
Re: Feature: Panel Folders
Hi,
Not sure what you are talking about...
In AM 4.2 there are multiple improvements made to the Create/edit tab:
- Able to run multiple instruments at once,
- Persistence between Air Manager sessions
- Better integration with Air Player
- Improved code editor
Also, what you might define as 'proper' might not be the case for everyone.
But again, if you feel like you have a better layout for the create/edit tab, feel free to create a small mockup,

Re: Feature: Panel Folders
I'm focusing only on the requested "grouping/organization" of panels and instruments in both [Home] and [Create/Edit] tabs, this is what about two threads including this one, are mentioning these last days, nothing more than this. This has already been requested and rejected years ago, with the same arguments.Corjan wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 5:15 pm Hi,

Hi,
Not sure why the home tab would need grouping, but that is besides the point I think.
You seem to imply that everything that is requested from the user base should be implemented?
Don't we have a say in it as the developers?

1 - Not, unless it is founded on intensive day to day usage, it looks like it could be heard with more flexibility
2 - Indeed, in the case rejecting request doesn't bring un-comfortable usage of Air Manager UI
