Ok so the touch itself is working because you get the yellow highlight in the correct spots when you touch. The knobster is working because the virtual knob is rotating. The only thing that is not working is the corresponding action in the sim. This either has to be a sim communication problem (plug-in or connection issue) or a non compatible aircraft or instrument. You seem to be suggesting that this aircraft has worked before so if that’s the case are you using the Xplane compatible G1000. The Nxi version does not work with Xplane. The main G1000 overlay works with both Xplane and MSFS. Could that be your problem?

I have the same problem. I select Alt knob. The Bezel knob turns yellow. Knobster spins the bezel knob but the altitude doesn't change. I am flying the citation x on x-plane 12. flying the citation 550 on x-plane 11 works perfect. Is there a way to single step through the code to see what is happening? I'm wondering if a dataref or command has changed from xp11 to xp12.

In that case it is an issue in X-Plane 12. You might have to use a different command. You can find that with the datareftool.

I don’t think you have the same problem at all. This was about using the incorrect G1000 overlay. those citations don’t use the G1000. So different instrument and different problem, more info required.

I'm also a bit confused about the G1000 and the Citation X. I thought that maybe the topic changed to a different instrument and I didn't quite follow.
As Tony said, the Citation X does not have a G1000, so I'm not sure what you're trying to do... ?
