Garmin G1000 for Planes with Yaw Damper

#1 Post by AnthonySullivan »

Dear Russ, I see that someone has kindly provided an overlay for the Garmin G1000 NXI. I have some planes such as the Diamond DA50 and others fitted with a Yaw Damper. The G1000 MFD in these planes still has 12 buttons on the autopilot section but they have removed the Back Course BC button and replaced it with a Yaw Damper YD button. They have also rearranged the other buttons in a different order.
Is there a plan to provide a G1000 overlay with this modified arrangement of AP buttons?
Many thanks
Anthony Sullivan

DA50 from what developer? Pics of bezel showing AP buttons would help. What other aircraft and button arrangements?

Hi Sling, Sorry that was from Aerobask and they have recently issued an updated version for X-Plane 12 for the DA50 and DA62.
I attach a photo of the buttons layout.
best wishes
Anthony

I doubt that this is a real world feature. Aside from that, the NXi bezel is MSFS only as far as I know.

Hmm maybe it is.

But you would have to convert the bezel yourself I'm afraid.

Yes this is a real world feature and it appears on other planes that have a yaw damper fitted. It should not be too hard to relocate the buttons on the overlay to their new positions, delete the Back Course Button and add the Yaw Damper function. I will have a go at it. Many thanks

Can we cross reference airframes to bezels so we know which is for which. If selecting this via user property any opinions on what’s the best terminology to use other than selecting by aircraft. I think I’ve currently got 4 options (All, no AP, no AP and Alt knob, Perspective Plus) and if I were to add these other variants it may get confusing. I haven’t had the need for all of these yet but I knew it would eventually come.

Tony,

This is going to be complex. First we must all understand that that there are different sizes. 10" ,12" and 15". They also have different part numbers but are caulked GDU
Lets take the Beechcraft G36 as an example, there are 3 possibility.
1) The PDF is GDU 1040
2) The MFD could be either GDU 1043/1045

I will do a spreadsheet of what I have and post here.
I do not have the appetite to code all the various combinations. Sorry
