I’m not sure the issue is the detection or flag. When I last checked I forced the instrument to display whatever I had regardless of the mode and I was still not getting any deviation information. The mode can be extrapolated worse case. The deviation was the big missing bit. I’ll check again when I get time.

Would be great to know if that works, and if the beforementioned variable gives the correct data. Then I can start making modifications.
On my own I can't get the values extracted from AM, hope Tony or the OP get better result though (in-sim data are present and correct)

The GSI works in your C414 HSI for RNAV. Just did an RNAV approach and it follows the one in the VC perfectly. Although you don't really see it very well. Seems to be nudged over a few pixels to the left under the bezel and you can only see the tip of it. But it's there and it works. I watched it follow the VC one perfectly.
As mentioned before, the only working variable years ago was the flag variable. It seems like they've fixed the other variable, however, the flag variable is now malfunctioning for this part. Looking at it from a technical standpoint, this is a bug in MSFS.
Well that surprises me in a nice way. I can’t remember if this was an issue with non G1000 aircraft. I think they were doing something different and naughtily not writing to the relevant simvar so it was internal only. I asked about this ages ago and was told they will have to do it but as I said before the last time I checked there was still nothing. I still haven’t had time to check yet.
