So the website is perfectly fine :)
But we can always refund your purchase if required. Note that this withdraws the license as well.
Hello Ralph,

How is possible that Air Manager not professional can download the "Community Panels" and Air Manager Professional not?? Have any logical?:
https://siminnovations.com/community-panels
Air Manager comes with the panels below for free!
You can select one of these panels in Air Manager and show them on your computer within seconds!

Best regards!

100% logical !

People who make FREE panels and instruments, the community, are absolutely NOT going to allow you or anyone else to use their work for your profit. That is entirely their right.
SI are not 'selling' you the free community panels when you purchase Air Manager pro - they are selling you the rights to use a limited subset that they have the rights to.

You cannot just take publicly available work by others and use it as you wish. That is theft.

It isn't rocket science.

"Free" community instruments means that other users are allowed to use them in Air Manager for personal use and even modify them if required. It does NOT grant the right to use them in a professional environment. If you have the pro version of AM, then the problem is on your end, not on Sim Innovations' end. The license for the Pro version clearly states that it comes with a limited number of instruments due to license rights.

Exactly. As with many other things they are for personal use only and not for commercial use. If you need certain instruments for a commercial project you need to either produce them entirely from scratch yourself or contract someone else who can do it for you.

Hi,

Some of "US" no names mentioned and it would be unethical for me to disclose, had a discussion on this relating to the discord and SI's position regarding opensource and IP. SI indicated that it is NOT opposed to individuals sharing instruments or creating business, and that one does not need a commercial AM licence to develop and sell instruments/panels or advertise such..

There was also a discussion around. Should the discord restrict members to noncommercial entities? This is quite a complex item and has many views. The consensus was to allow all to participate and advertise their passion.

There was also an appetite expressed by SI, for premium panels. One of the thoughts thrown around was to create a stream flow of these premium panels and SI would pay a once off gratuity for the panel IP. I can not talk for SI and do not know the outcome of their decision. I suggest you pop them a proposal should you be willing to assist.

In closing. I will venomously protect my IP rights should any commercial entity try and transgress. However I will also freely assist commercial entities within reason.

I mean this in a good way - that while very informative, nobody is discussing the discord thing as it is absolutely nothing to do with these forums or indeed, the subject. The other points re your personal view are absolutely 100% valid.
As for the views of SI, then that is up to them to declare and not thoughts on hearsay - whether accurate or not - on such a complex issue. It needs to be in black and white.
This is such a minefield that it needs to be fully documented. There are often numerous 'authors' and 'developers' and 'enhancers' of a single instrument. It is a very very difficult subject with lots of gotchas.

Hi,

Hold on Joe, Do not bring your assumptions view of the Discord into this discussion. In fact the converse was part done on Discord and on another Skype group. Also some PM here.

You have to understand that business is "MULTI MEDIA" orientated in 2022. Handing out pamphlets and websites are dead.

People want "bank" for their efforts. Bank does not necessary mean bank in a financial scene, but also bank in appreciation and recognition for their contribution to helping others.

But correct Joe, black and white policy is lacking. I agree.
As I said, I cannot talk for SI. But I fully stand behind their model. It makes for peeps to make a few bears or pay off some debt and put some happiness in their hearts to know they helped someone
I suppose the question would then be. Why should one want to submit their instrument to the community store?

Well I will always share my knowledge to all. It is selfish to keep ones knowledge and take it the ones grave.
We just have to take a member (you know who I refer to) who passed all his work willingly shared all his efforts for others to learn and continue his passion.

They are not my 'assumptions' Keith, they are a matter of fact. The 'discord' or whatever you use is absolutely and utterly irrelevant to the conversation. THAT is the point. It is like someone pushing the 'watch tower' though the letterbox. ;)
The same as the unnamed 'we' etc and then the references to SI's opinion yet then saying that you don't know their opinion.
The supposed 'location' as to where or how some supposed discussion with non definitive results took place is of no importance whatsoever.
The only handing out of pamphlets is being done metaphorically by your insistence and persistence
And I am glad you agree that it is all something that would need to be in black and white.
As for people submitting work to the community I fully agree that it is totally, 100% a personal and individual choice and always will be. It is to be encouraged and applauded. Very few of the published community work on SI is totally original and that is the very best part of it, it is built on and further built on. Again, a very fine thing for those that want to do it whether for the reasons of sharing and building on a base and expanding the experience or for personal praise or for any reason whatsoever. Some may not want to do any of that at all and again, that is also absolutely fine. It is all good. Just not when anyone tries to commercialise someone elses efforts. That we all seem to agree on. Some people even struggle to say a simple and polite thank you. That is how bad things can be. A glimpse into the freeloading culture that is pervasive and inherent in the world of the emptynet. It is a very sad reflection on a very large portion of modern netizen society and culture. Very sad indeed.
