Writing Arduino Hardware set up code

I've purchased a rather good motorised compass unit from Sim Wales. To get it working with Air Manager 4 I need to write some kind of code to link it through my arduino mega. All my other hardware has been easy to set up because there has been a pre-written template hardware code to work with.

How do I start with that? Perhaps someone can point me to a wiki or other source that will get me going?

That completely depends on the hardware. What kind of stepper driver, how does it calibrate, etc.
