You can check the log.txt from Air Player, it probably says something about the connection. It is in C:/users/your username/Air Player/

Air Player is, due to security reasons, not allowed to create a socket. Can be the firewall, but also due to other Windows or 3rd party security software, hard to say.

Thanks Ralph. I find the problem. The problem was a process on 2.PC called "spnsrvnt.exe" - Sentinel Protection Server for SuperPro and UltraPro network keys.
The process runs after i started Airplayer. Then i have killed the process and it worked.

I'm frequently experiencing the same issue. I'm curious how can this be resolved.

My problem was a software called „Sentinel“. Its a security software and it blocks the connection. I deinstalled this and switched off the firewall and now it works

Good move, generally you really do not need anything more than the built in windows firewall. Anything else is pointless in security terms.
To the other chap, check for any kind of firewall or 'security' type software that may come with an AV, or god forbid, Norton, McAfee or similar nightmares.
With win 8 and above the offerings from MS included with windows (defender) are all that 99.9% of people would ever need.

I don't use any additional "security" software beyond built in Windows defender.

The airplayer.exe has been configured to pass through the firewall. I often turn off the firewall and run the Air Player multiple times until one gets detected by the Air Manager on the main computer. Sometimes it happens quickly, sometimes it takes a while. Sometimes the connection is established with Windows Firewall on, or when the state of Firewall changes. It all appears random; I don't see the pattern. It eventually works, but the time it takes to be detected by Air Manager is wasted.

I wonder if it would be better to use WiFi than Ethernet from the PC hosting the airplayer.

Definitely and definitively not.

It sounds like a problem with something else you have running. Without being sat at your PC it is impossible to diagnose.

You can try ensuring device discovery is on although it wouldn't cause hit and miss issues. It SHOULD be enable though.

also press ctr shift and esc together and then select the startup tab and print off what is running at startup.
