Create Garmin Gi 275 from Garmin G5

Hi,
I am thinking about buying the G5 instrument but am wondering if it can be modified. I have modified other instruments but I wonder if "bought" ones that require license have that capability. The G5 and the 275 are really close. I can get by with just some graphics changes I think.

I am about to get two Gi275 instruments for my real Cessna 182. I made a flight simulator that exactly matches my current panel of steam gauges. I would really like to add the Gi275s.

My sim is pretty complete and has a RealSimGear Garmin 530W (exactly as my plane has) as well as all the gauges working with rotary encoders through an Arduino board.

Hi,

Premium instruments have encrypted code that you can not modify or read.

I have done some work on the GI257. It is not a simple instrument to try and code. The pages and graphics are easy and all that work is done. The menu and many pages of code are another story. Also not all the datarefs are available to replicate the IRL version.

So when you start I can help with some pointers.

hmm... ok. I thought maybe at least one could change some of the graphics without touching the working code. The operation of the Gi 275 is 90% identical to the G5. I guess I should buy it to find out....
