Re: Character Display possible issue.

#41 Post by Keith Baxter »

Hi,

@Corjan
The wiki states that these characters are present.
this is limited to A, b, C, c, d, E, F, H, h, L, l, O, o, P, and S.
However all work except the "S" , "s". Please fix that.

Please add a few extra characters so that we can do some basic displays. The basics for lat,lon display are "N", "S", "E" ,"W" . Currently only the "E" works. So after fixing the "S" please add the "n" and "w"
We also need to display "dAtA" so the "t" would be awesome please.

The fix and the 3 extra will go a long way to assist us.

Here is the IRS display that has the missing "S". which should be in front of the "1745.1" in the image.

If it is bits that is a problem then perhaps remove some of the characters not often used.

How do you propose to display 'W' Keith ???? :o - also, there is often a huge difference between upper and lower case. :? - also - there is ABSOLUTELY no possibility of upper and lower case 'S' and 's'

IF you really want an 'S' the send a '5' there is absolutely do difference.

"N", "n" is

Keith, I never mentioned upper or lower case 'n' - the 'w /W' is a matter of taste and non standard, and looks nothing like 'w' and also like crap ;)
If you want letters then use a proper alphanumeric display. Also, you never mentioned 'S' and '5' ??
'Amstel letters' :D (love ya bro!)

I know the "W" does not look like a "W" but it is standard for the "W". At lease the digit will show something meaningful and not just a bunch of numbers with blank spaces.

Hi,

I have added the missing once I think. Didn't do the 's' and 'W' because that is simply not possible.

Hi,

Updated table above.
Seems like I added the 'S', 'N' and 't'.

If there is something missing (that can be shown on 8 segment display), please let me know,

Corjan
