DIY knobster won’t flash

#1 Post by Richeire »

I’m a newbie at this also 78, so slow on the uptake. Here goes, I built knobster with a true arduino nano and the encoder from propwash. When I try to install it into AM 4 I get a message, like Com closed avrdude.exe …… and it will not accept it. Has anyone experienced this and found a remedy?

Either the wrong com port, or it is already in use by a different application. You can check if it is visible in the Windows device manager.

I tried again through Device Manager. Com 7 is serial USB hub, where I connected DIY Knobster, flashed, then
message. Closed COM port...

avrdude.exe: ser_open(): can't open device "\\.\COM7": Access is denied.

avrdude.exe done. Thank you.
Am I missing a driver or utility?

It means that AVRDude / Air Manager cannot open the COM port. Can be a few things. You can also try it on a different computer.

Hi @Richeire, did you also closed any running sim, or sim utility, like Spad.Next or whatever, together with closing any panel from Air Manager ?
