Air Panel controls on touchscreen do not react to touch

#1 Post by Goose »

Greetings
System is Windows 11. Graphics RTX-3060.
I have three 43 inch 4K monitors connected to 3 display ports on Gaming Desktop via 3 display-port-to-hdmi cables. NVIDIA display set-up is in surround. (have not figured out yet how to display 3 screens in multi view in MSFS 2020. I added new render windows but they all stack up on one monitor instead of displaying on the 3 monitors. Anyway this is for another time and not Air Manager related).
I also have 1 x 15.4 inch Prechen touchscreen monitor connected from HDMI on monitor to HDMI on Desktop. Delivers great Air Panel display. Have USBC connection from 15.4 inch monitor to USB 2.0 on desktop to feedback touch function. HID-compliant Touch Screen driver running without issues.
PROBLEM is that the Airpanel display monitor acts as a touchpad for the surround monitors. It will not pop out or "activate" any controls, switches or dials on the air panel through touch so that I can use Knobster to control (knobster not yet installed). Tapping or running finger on the airpanel monitor only results in a blip or trail on the surround display just like that which would result from a touchpad. I can control the switches and dials on the airpanel with my mouse but not by tapping them with my fingers (IE ALT BAT, AVIONICS, LIGHTS, HDG etc...)

In Windows Settings-Displays menu, the 3 monitors are shown as a single display (ok) and the 15.4 inch air-panel as display 2. Displays are extended.
Anyone knows why I cannot"touch" control the Airpanel on the 15.4 touchscreen monitor and can only do it by mouse. Seems to me it has to do with Air Manager since touch function is recognized by desktop. Have I overlooked something?
Thanks so much for any feedback

Sounds like you haven't calibrated touch on the correct monitor.

Thanks so much for such quick assistance Ralph. I had tried that and tried ti again, doing exactly as per instructions and when I tapped on the touchscreen to identify it I got the message "no pen or touch input is available for this display". Really weird since I could tap on the screen when airpanel was loaded and see a blip on the main display and could swipe with a finger and see a weak swoosh on main display. I am really not understandng this and wonder if anyone out there uses a 15.4 inch Prechen Touchscreen external monitor to display and interact with airpanel in a windows 11 environment. Alternatively if anyone can tell me of a good 15 to 17 inch touchscreen monitor I can use with windows 11 to interact with the air panel and knobster successfully. I saw Russ Barlow doing this perfectly in a video posted 4 years ago but that was well before Win11 and Air Manager 4. I just want to be able to have all my intruments on cockpit displays and use touch and knobster.
Thanks a million again

Please read the whole thread, it looks like this brand is having some issue in touch area

Yep it could be that brand again causing issues, although it was a dual touch monitor issue in that other thread.

I guess a big note for everyone to stay clear of Prechen touch monitors unless you know of someone else who has exact model working in the same scenario you want to use yours in.

Russ uses the Wimaxit monitors, those seem to be good.

Thanks to all. After much further research, seems like for me the issues are the result of several things:
1) I am using a desktop computer while most of these external monitors are made for laptops
2) I have Windows 11, it appears as though this release of windows has different drivers on desktops than on laptops, only has one slot for touchscreen monitor in HID and is totally different as far as accomodating external monitors as the Win 10 release.
I will keep on trying different monitors, I have been able to return the 2 Prechen and will try one ASUS now.
I understand that running one monitor with touchscreen function might be possible but also that running two is almost impossible for the moment until Microsoft decides to address the issue in an update.
If I find one that works, I will probably then use a 21 or 24 inch divided in two to accomodate a G1000 set-up.

If anyone has found a touchscreen monitor that works perfectly and responds to touch in a desktop Win 11 environment, please post it.

Thanks and happy simming!

I have 4 touch screens in my setup. I have a pair of 15.6" Wimaxit, and a pair of 22" Planar Helium. Once the touch calibration was done once, they've always worked great without issue. Running on Windows 11.
