New instrument bckgrd image does not display

#1 Post by zeusmsfs »

I've created a new panel for the Tecnam P2000T and the panel background is set to Transparent. I've just created the new instrument to act as the background panel image for that panel. I've made the bckgrd png image file which has a couple of transparent cutouts for the pop out panels and its in the Instruments Resources folder. When I select that instrument to put into my new Tecnam panel, the Layout window displays ok but the instrument with the bckgrd image does not display in the Show window. Any suggestions on what am I doing wrong?

Why have the background as an instrument and not just as a background image?

I tried that initially. It doesnt seem to work. I think its got to do with the fact the background transparency will apply to the entire background. .. then I found a Utube video that said the above approach was required but I'm obviously doing something wrong.

I'm not sure what you're doing, works fine here.

Either the video is wrong or you didn’t interpret the information being presented correctly. As Ralph said the way to have a panel background is as part of the panel. The instrument method can work but it’s certainly not required or preferred.

As usual, it was a simple rectification. When creating the transparent boxes for the PFD and MFD via a background image, I've discovered in the Background Colour box, not only does the opacity slider have to go to zero but also the Brightness slider as well. Too easy and I feel I need to apologise to all for wasting a few minutes of your lives... :?

Or Air Manager 4.2

@zeusmsfs You don't have to alter the brightness, opacity all the way to zero is enough.

No wait, you're right. Quite strange... You would think with zero opacity, nothing should show :|

Yep you have to have all the sliders fully down to get it to set as transparency. It’s not a big deal as long as you know :-).
