Hi and welcome to the forum,
Yes it’s possible and some of the instruments have that functionality. What instruments exactly did you notice being on without aircraft power and what sim are you using?

Re: Battery ON turn istrument visible
The first one is an electro-mechanical device.
The needle are always visible, here they are in their parking position (90degrees) and there is a red flag that says « OFF » which is the correct behavior. Guess that the needles are frozen as well when not powered.
The second one is purely digital, but it seems also to be a standby instrument, so it can in some cases be self powered by an internal battery. Nonetheless this one should be off with avionics OFF, or at least with a power button somewhere

Just made a try and it works : tested with X-Plane / MSFS2020 / FSX / P3D
SI, you can freely update your original online instrument with this one, if you want, in which I've added default dark background bitmap for power off state and made some adjustments : group_add / new dataref and variable

Re: Battery ON turn istrument visible
Just made a quick adaptation to the ZiboMod with changes introduced in 3.56 EA 6.0 (very nice un-cage effect)
@Ralph, you can freely add this ZiboMod ready Standby, to the Online Store if you wish, as well as the previously updated for the NG
[EDIT] Typo
Code: Select all
-- B738X_XP12_EA_6_0:
--------------------------------------
-- new full own AP and AT system (new AP/AT logic too)
-- modeled 2 FFC units (FCC A and FCC B) - 2 independent autopilots
-- improved VOR LOC and GS code
-- !!! **** >>> realistic animation for align analog horizon and trim wheel <<< **** !!!
-- add optional "Capture GS before LOC" in EFB
-- add support for incoming Shared flight version
-- fixed bugs (FMC pages,...)
