Luckily the air water bombers doused it. Bloody forest fires, and my 4 tons of winter logs sat there  ;)

I saw a couple in France as well. The locals didn't look to concerned. Although this one looks to be a little closer.

Yeah, its not concerning with respect to safety to life and property as the area around the houses is at least 200 mtrs clear of forestation so the house is never really going to burn from a forest fire. Those fires yesterday were all around us but the nearest was just under 1km away. The huge problem is the smoke. Jeez, if the wind is in the wrong direction then it is horrendous. Luckily this was well contained as we are within easy flying range of the water bombers both Helo and Fixed wing.
Smoke and particles though, in a bad one it covers everything. You could actually hear the burning trees, a horrible crackling sound. Great when coming from the log burning in winter but not it August when its nearly 40C :?

In 2016 when we were living at the farm it was pretty grim due to all the tinder dry crops (vinyard) - no rain the previous 4 months at all. Many were killed that year in the central area. They died when their cars stopped due to lack of oxygen in the air when they were trying to drive away. Really grim
Had a few fixed wing canadair water bombers go down as well. Already lost one fixed wing agro bomber this year already.

Here's what you dont want to see, and again this was small - this is from the farm in 2016 - luckily using a telephoto !.

And as you are a helo guy here are some of the guys grabbing water from the river Douro just below us ! we had a great view. See the power line dodging - jeez, these guys earn their money.
