PMDG 737-700 instrument collection

#1 Post by Detlef »

Hi all,

here is my state of work. User properties are used for illumination and other.
The dials used for illumination are on the original glareshield.

Changes:
- APU EGT gauge added
- Transponder radio added
- NAV radio now has user props for selecting nav1 or 2
- The displays are on only if the avionics bus is switched on
- Caution lights added

- Warning lights added. Buttons are working but light states not. HELP FOR LVARS very much appreciated here... (PMDG did just say, they are working on their documentaion, but no time frame)

Hi 737 pilots,

I made this overhead panel instrument:

preview.PNG
Illumination is controlled with the dials next to the FMC captain side. And also per user property.

I am not sure how much time I will find for continuing this instrument development, because I take part in a full 737-700 type rating training starting today in our flight simulator club.

- I could actually do with some help on further instruments. If you are interested, please contact me - (Some Skinman and Lua knowledge would be needed and the PMDG FS2020 737-700)

And let me know if anything is wrong.

Very nice. Is the instrument 'brightness' depending on the amount of sunlight or?

Hi Ralph,
on the forward electronic panel are these two knobs:

I interpret the left one as day from dark to bright, and the right one as artificial light from dark to bright. That is not perfect, but if use for all instruments works ok.
X-Plane has variables, giving the amount of external light. I could not find a similar variable in FS2020. I could use a mathematical formula, giving the
sunlight depending on
- lat long position
- elevation
- date/time
But I don't have that formula and function.

Hi all,

I modified the COM radio. You can select captain or first officer side now per user property.

For our Simstrumentation instruments for the Working Title CJ4 for MSFS (that are in the AM community store), we built an Ambient Light Dimmer instrument. It basically does the calculation based on time, date, longitude, latitude and altitude (from MSFS simvars) and spits out a global variable that can be read and used by other instruments on your panels. All our CJ4 (and upcoming CRJ) instruments use this control to dim its backgrounds automatically as ambient light decreases. It works both in manual mode (via a knob) to set light value, or has an auto function and can them be tucked away behind another instrument so you don't have to look at it.

So an instrument that does this already exists in the AM store under Generic / Ambient Light Dimmer. You could easily tie into that if you wanted to.
