OK, I just did a test with a new cable (USB 2 to type C) and I got the same error message :

Re: Knobster from Sim Innovations not connecting to AM 4.1.4 (Windows 10)
Actually it's not pointless as the device IS staying connected in device manager hence it is not the cable.SimPassion wrote: ↑Thu Jul 28, 2022 3:35 pmIt looks like the OP has ordered a new cable but not yet tested with it, I guess it has still to be delivered for further testing
We could understand the OP is reporting the same testing using the same original cable, so pointless info for the moment

is it possible you could try it on a different computer ?bi30153 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 28, 2022 5:43 pm OK, I just did a test with a new cable (USB 2 to type C) and I got the same error message :

That was what I was thinking as well Give it a try on a different computer, that can be with the demo version of Air Manager. It might have something to do with your hardware setup.
If the result is the same, then the only option left is sending a new Knobster.

Yeah, I asked about hardware in use but didnt get a reply. First thing that came to mind was USB Power saving settings but it is far easier to check on another machine first if possible.Ralph wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 7:40 am That was what I was thinking as well Give it a try on a different computer, that can be with the demo version of Air Manager. Re: Knobster from Sim Innovations not connecting to AM 4.1.4 (Windows 10)
Hi, I will do more tests today or tomorrow:
- Removing some USB devices on my computer and re-test the knobster).
- Testing with a new USB HUB 2.0 (when it will arrive today)
- Testing another cable Type C to USB 3.0 (when it will arrive today) ( I have 4 USB 3 ports not used on my computer)
- Setting up another computer ( with a demo version of Air Manager) (today or tomorrow)
I will let you know the results of all the tests !

Re: Knobster from Sim Innovations not connecting to AM 4.1.4 (Windows 10)
Hi guys,
Good News ....
- The original cable & the knobster were (GOOD)
- I did a test with the new USB HUB 2.0 (7 ports with 4 devices) - --> (OK ... The new USB HUB 2.0 (7 ports with 4A) was the solution )
Now, if I look in the log.txt file in the Air Manager folder : no more error message about the HardwareKnobster .

Re: Knobster from Sim Innovations not connecting to AM 4.1.4 (Windows 10)
Strange that it works with the hub, but USB can be a mystery at times, and not as universal as it's supposed to be
Re: Knobster from Sim Innovations not connecting to AM 4.1.4 (Windows 10)
I know that the USB ports on the computer have a limit of current !
About the Amazon HUB :
Max output per port is 500MA for 5 regular USB ports, 1.5A for 2 USB fast charging ports; max output is 20W(5V/4A) across all 7 ports.
Check your device loading current when used for charging (e.g. iPads/Tablets) or for high-power devices (e.g. hard drive); insufficient current may lead to slow charging or other failure.
Thanks again.
