I think I know what you mean. It sounds very similar to the type of material pvc foam sandwich blanking panels they use in uPVC doors. Seems to be a bit of a thinner capping though. I can see it has it uses for some trim parts and stiffeners.
Dibond has also been used for ages and is very good for certain things. Sam at CSP has made some FOHP back plates that are fully machined. This is, I believe, more a stiffener and primarily a silencing board for the otherwise hollow sounding switch movements and the flexing.
Difficult to beat metal for the MIP fascia though. With the cost of laser or water jet cutting then steel is a great option. It is dirt cheap to have cut.

The PVC board will be really nice to work with I would presume. ?

Hi,

I will ask if there is a 10" , 178x178mm screen available and the resolutions. Nothing wrong with asking.

For whatever reason this keeps popping up on my FB feed.

Might be because i showed interest in this FB post.
So annoying that marketers follow your every query and target you. Sucks.

Gilles,

Talking to AB..If they can do the Chrono and isfd 3.4" screens with HDMI for this price.

They might just surprise us on a 10" , (278x278) version for the 737 DU's and others for the various G1000's. Even the Garmin touch screen instruments.
Hmmmm..... Need to win a lottery and get some done.

That's normal for samples for a small screen they have already made. You have to ADD the price for the driver board, it isn't included. ;) - ignore what they say - get it in writing. Also ensure you get a complete datasheet for ALL parts as the measurements may not be what you expect.
Most times, you will find that the price quoted is NOTHING like the price you have to pay. ;) Been there, done that, got the tee shirt.

Hi Keith

Let us bring some 'normality' and 'realism' to this -

Ok, as a regular customer of Alibaba, I used my contacts and spoke directly to the source.
a. the price you quoted does NOT include the driver board, - as I pointed out
b. The driver board has an moq !
c. There is a 'setup' fee (this is not unusual)

Here, for your information, is your quote (note - you cannot buy 5 !)

Please note, this is subject to all import taxes and duties / vat etc at your end

Regards

I have a couple of these, we use them for our IESI / ISFD's. They've got 4 pin holes (which you have to solder yourself), 5V, GND, ENABLE, PWM.
If I remember correct, ENABLE has to be pulled to ground to let you set the brightness with PWM. We use PWM at 200 Hz I think.

These boards were actually created on our (Vortex Simulation) request, we payed for the whole process. There was only the display back then, no driver board. The board had to fit the housing, and we needed to be able to dim it.
Looking back at it, I should have requested a 2.00 mm spacing for the connector, but it is as it is.

Ralph,

Is the price quoted in the link the price you paid and does it come complete with the HDMI board you talk about?
