Hi @Ralph
Is there any chance that you could test the new AP on the Pi Zero 2W ?
It is massively faster and more capable than the original Zero.
or, have you already tried it ?

That would work fine, you would have to run it through WiFi or ethernet OTG. There's no reason why it would not work, Air Player is not device specific.
Re: Air Player for Pi Zero 2W Quad Core ?
Thanks Ralph. Does it need a specific version of the OS on it or do you have an image that can be used ?.

That information can be found on our wiki.

Hi Ralph,
So, that will work directly on Raspberry PI OS ?

Re: Air Player for Pi Zero 2W Quad Core ?
Yes, that's correct. But for any Debian based Linux OS for that matter.
Linux ARM
System requirements:
Linux ARM
System requirements:
- Any Debian 10 or up based Linux
- CPU: ARM Cortex A
- Memory: 1 GB or more
- Video card: Supports OpenGL ES 2.0 or higher
Re: Air Player for Pi Zero 2W Quad Core ?
Ah, that's good. I know jack sh!t about linux . Always seemed a bit pointless when you have windows.
So the Pi OS is debian. That's good. It would appear to be V11 also.
Memory - I presume you are referring to the SD card ?. That's no problem. The system has 500MB Ram, and obviously as much standard storage as needed.
It looks like it would be a damn good little unit.
Thanks for the info Ralph.
The Zero 2W I use with ADSB was a complete image downloaded from FlightAware so I never actually installed anything, just modded a setup text file.
Will update you as to any useful results.

Re: Air Player for Pi Zero 2W Quad Core ?
Ah, have also just realised the source of some of my confusion with this.
I had earlier looked at air MANAGER for linux as opposed to PLAYER....
that requires a 64bit OS and I had seen that the pi was a 32 bit OS.
Was looking at the wrong product specs. DOH !.

Re: Air Player for Pi Zero 2W Quad Core ?
With ARM you can choose between 32 and 64 bit, we have both.
Memory is the SDRAM memory. In the case of the Zero 2W that's 512 MB, which is too low for the specs, but it'll probably work if you run just a small instrument.
We had some hardware running on an old Zero, at 640x480 I believe. The frame rate wasn't that great, but it worked.

Re: Air Player for Pi Zero 2W Quad Core ?
Interesting.
That may work (what I want it for is nothing to do with flightsim)
Am I right in presuming that Air PLAYER can only support graphical iinstruments - not hardware ? so no way to hook up an arduino to the usb port on the zero for the instrument to use ?
It may be a case of needing to wait for the totally ridiculous RP4 hardware prices to come down - if they ever do - and use a big PI 4 with Manager instead of Player.
