DCS World interfacing: A promising future for AM?

#1 Post by JackZ »

Hello

I have been loosely watching the evolution of DCS world the military flight sim and it seems to be very advanced in terms of accuracy and realism levels, with lots of people creating their own home cockpit. The community seems huge and dedicated.

It seems that there is a whole world of opportunities for Air Manager in terms of instrument development (read « prospective customers ») if it was able to communicate to DCS World.

I feel that one of the ways to achieve that goal would be to rely on DCS Bios (available on GitHub) which acts as an interface between DCS and the outside world and… uses Lua!

@Ralph & @Corjan any thoughts/plans about DCS interfacing for AM in the future?

Same applies to Sim racing software, such as rFactor

As the Hobbits would say « Air Manager to rule them all »

We're aware of DCS Bios. But we rather work with something that is natively supported by Eagle Dynamics.

@Ralph Does that mean that DCS will be supported natively in the future?
That would be an instant hit among the sim military community for sure!

We've been in contact with them in the past, but there seemed to be a conflict of interest within their group. So far, their main developer isn't interested in having a plugin system.
