Then I have a different question.
Is it possible to assign a command to a knobster button (using knobXP) that would only change the mode between ALT / VS ???

Hi,

Not sure if such a command exists in X-plane.

You can search available X-plane commands here:

Yes there are, but unfortunately two different commands:

sim / autopilot / set_ott_seldisp_ALT_VVI_vvi

sim / autopilot / set_ott_seldisp_ALT_VVI_alt

I understand that in this case there is no chance that this could work on the principle of switching functions.

Then still your left and right commands would have to be some kind of generic thing, so that's not gonna work. You might be able to create something custom using Flywithlua if you're able to script your own commands.

But you wouldn't get any feedback about which mode you have selected, so a bit confusing maybe.

But is there any possibility to assign a custom lua script command later to a Knobster button (with the command: "button_released_cmd": "..................... ............... ") ???

Yes, Yes, Yes. :-)
Managed to do what I wanted with a very simple Lua script.
Then I assigned the created command in lua script to the Knobster button.
Many thanks to everyone for valuable tips and help. :-)

I was looking for a little bit different answer, but similar, on this thread....

If there was a hot key to select the mode or context, then VoiceAttack could be used to select:
  • Altimeter
    Com1
    Com2
    Cabin Altitude
    (all the MCP functions)
then, in VR, this would be really fast and easy

thanks, guys, you're all amazing

Hi @gwa

I think this is on the SI radar as they posted it a year or so back on their FB channel....
https://www.facebook.com/siminnovations ... 638540625/

Worth a read, poking the subject again might revive some interest and give you the answers you seek.

The SI guys will give a better indication going forward if this will become a API <feature> or not.

This is not made by us, but by one of our customers. We haven't even tried it ourselves, so I'm afraid we can't be of any help with that.
