I attempted to use airplayer to run a G5 PFD + G5 HSI in portrait mode on a pi 3+ with a 1024x600 7" screen and the framerates I saw were in the sub 10 range (barely useable) ..
I just saw this on slashdot:

Perhaps if employed, this driver could improve the performance of airplayer on the pi ...?
Open Source Raspberry Pi Vulkan Driver for Pi 0,1,2,3 available

This doesn’t surprise me and is the reason I don’t use my Rpi Licence. 10 sounds a bit low but I guess that depends on the instrument.
IMHO Air player is only suitable for things where low frame rate is not noticeable. I remember Vulkan being mentioned as a future upgrade for AM so let’s hope it can also be implemented for the Rpi. A Rpi 4 and Vulkan might make it viable for more intense panels.

[EDIT] Just a caveat : "...There's just one limitation with the RPi-VK-Driver though. Unlike the official Vulkan driver that's still in the works, Thomas' version is only compatible with the Broadcom VideoCore IV GPU that's found inside the Raspberry Pi 1, 2, 3 and Zero devices." ... source : https://tech.slashdot.org/story/20/06/2 ... spberry-pi

Hi,
Actually, the CPU is the bottleneck when it comes to the G5. Downside of using canvas I guess.
Ralph will have a look at the G5 this week, to see if that can be optimized.
But yes, in general the pi is not very powerfull, so don't expect desktop grade performance.
