OpenStreetMap - Already implemented
OpenMapSurfer - I don't see (much) difference between the basic OSM layer and this map
OpenTopoMap - Looks a bit chaotic and the server seems to be a bit slow
Staman Terrain - Looks good, some tiles throw errors, so a bit questionable, but we have it implemented
CARTO Dark - Part of carto.com which is a commercial party, I can't find the maps on their website, nor can I find license information
CARTO Light - Same story

Hello Ralph

Does it mean that OSM does some payment to subscribe to CARTO, for it to be available internally in its databases and
then Littlenavmap subscribes freely to OSM to get free online CARTO Maps ?

We don't, that's the point. It doesn't say anywhere that it is allowed to use Carto commercially, I can't find any license specifications.

For the Dark theme and other Night theme, I guess this could addressed by using a specific CSS file that tells how to render the data.

The thing I don't know though is if it is located on the server side, or if it can be implemented on the client side.

I guess the difference is that Little NavMap is OpenSource and Free.

I want to be able to get ICAO info and nearest airports from xplane.

Can AM access this?

https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/f ... a-the-sdk/

Have a play with the nav functions to see if they give you what you want. You can also read in external nav data.

If all this fails to deliver then you’ll probably need to wait for the planned nav update.

UI for Arduino codings, like Mobiflight or something?

We can just enter the pin number, board number, function type and write the xp/p3d code.

I’m not sure what you really mean. If it’s auto code generation you are suggesting I’m not sure how that could be made to work while still retaining what we have now Have you tried the code snippets. Perhaps an enhanced snippets Wizard would be a solution.

Could also be a « Generic » parametric hardware only instrument with a basic interface.
User properties could be set to address the different pins of an Arduino Uno and Mega for example.

Mmm, sounds interesting, will put that on my personal TODO list, at least as a « proof of concept ». 8-)

The difference with Mobiflight being that the latter also allows complex condition triggers to be setup in the UI.
On the other hand, the same and even more complex behavior can be programmed in AM if ever needed, this is one of the advantages of the overall flexibility of AM, the “Swiss Army Knife of Cockpit builders” (TM)
