String DataRefs don't work

#1 Post by jedeen »

Hey guys,
I just got an update for the AM3.0 beta, but all off a sudden my string data refs aren't working anymore.
They still work in AM2.3.1.......but I can't switch back to AM2.3.1 with this program, just migrated to AM3.0
Sample: "laminar/B738/fmc1/Line_entry", "STRING", or "laminar/B738/nd/wpt_id00m, "STRING", "sim/aircraft/view/acf_descrip","STRING",
Kind Regards
Jedeen

I'll have a look at it tomorrow.

Could you check the state of the subscriptions in the data viewer? (From Create/Edit tab)

Pictures say more then words :)
I migrated a little piece of the code back to AM2.3.1
Both programs have the two DataRefs which are at the top of the picture from AM2.3.1

Hi,

I tried to reproduce this problem, but it seems to work okay here.

Could you try installing the latest version of the X-plane plugin? You can download the latest version here:
Download

Also, a bit of a stupid question, but are you flying an aircraft in the sim? The string is empty when you arn't.

Hallo Corjan,
First.....there are no stupid questions :D
Yes XP11 was running, and I was parked with a 737 at a gate on EHEH (Eindhoven) and XP was not paused.

I downloaded and installed the pluggin and after installing the newest update I could not start AM3.0 got an Java error message, see picture.
I had to start AM2.1.3 first and then after 2 trials I was able to start AM3.0.

There is some improvement as you can see in the pictures.
The strings in 3.0 are now filled....strangely all with the same data.
After I filled something in the scratchpath of the FMC the DataRef "laminar/B738/fmc1/Line_entry" did show the message I had typed in.
But the text that was in that field that the viewer showed me, was only partially gone.
The DataRef in the DataRefTool showed of course the correct message.
When I put the contents of that DataRef in a print statement, it shows the same message as the viewer shows.

Hi,

Hmz, weird behavior. I'm going to have a look tomorrow to see if I can find the source of this problem.
Looks like both subscriptions (at least the two at the bottom) are using the same memory location.

I'll keep you posted,

I think you are on the right track.
In the attached picture I have put a flightplan in the FMC, and as you can see.......
The DataRef in DataRefTool is populated with the name of the first waypoint (EHEH) in magenta....the "m" at the end of the DataRef is for magenta.
The name is showing up twice in the viewer. I did not copied the top of the viewer, but the first DataRef only shows the name of the plane, nothing else.

Hi,

Just downloaded the same aircraft and I got the same problem here luckily.
I think I have found the source of the problem, it is a bug in the X-plane plugin is causing this issue.

Could you try this version instead:

Hallo Corjan,

It seems you have solved it. See picture.
The only thing was that I had to start AM3.0, 4 times.
Each time I opened the viewer I got a java error, as shown before.
After the 3 time I first started AM2.3.1 and then AM3.0, after that AM3.0 did work ok.

Regards
Derk
