@Ralph, @Corjan,

a short update on my problems. I had removed all of my instruments and then added them one by one. I could not identify any particular instrument causing GUI problems. The behaviour with vanishing instruments did not occur again, however. What remains is the AM start problem. After rebooting the PC (Windows 10), AM always starts fine, with the Knobster and my Arduino Mega based hardware (with SI Message Interface) shown as active in the devices list after a few seconds.

However, if I close AM and restart it again, AM very often hangs scanning instruments. And after AM restart the Arduinos are not recognized. With todays AM 4.0 update it got better I think, but is not completely healed.
I continue making a backup everytime I change an instrument.

@jph,

Joe, thanks for your tip regarding F1. I love watching but hope it will return to public TV. I'll wait some (F1 for me not being that important.... Oh, I did not say that. My wife also watches.)
