Re: Garmin G5 VS Mode
I didn't like peanut butter on bread when I was young, but now I find it quite alright.
Re: Garmin G5 VS Mode
Hello,
Im not sure how that refers to VS mode but Peanut Butter is ok. Does it help if i take some Pics of my flight this weekend with the g5s and GFc500?
Thanks for an awesome product.

Re: Garmin G5 VS Mode
The reason for my reply was that your message didn't hold any useful information. I don't know which simulator, I don't know which aircraft, etc...
It's like calling IT support and saying "my computer doesn't work".

Re: Garmin G5 VS Mode
It might very well be that Carenado uses custom variables / events for the autopilot. A good way to check is to use this autopilot, as it shows the mode where you are in:
It's the Generic - Bendix/King autopilot.

Re: Garmin G5 VS Mode
The best way actually to check it:
- Start the G5 with the simulator running and set your aircraft autopilot in VS mode.
- Go to the Create/Edit tab
- Open the Viewer by clicking on the Viewer button
- Go to the FSX tab
- Search for the variable AUTOPILOT VERTICAL HOLD and see if the value is true
In my case, I can let the aircraft have a certain vertical speed, but the AUTOPILOT VERTICAL HOLD variable stays false. So if this doesn't go to true in your case as well, then it's either a bug in the simulator, or Carenado is using their own variables.
Also note that the GFC500 in Air Manager is not made for Prepar3D / FSX, only for X-Plane.

Re: Garmin G5 VS Mode
Hello
AUTOPILOT VERTICAL HOLD VAR shows the rate of VS.
AUTOPILOT PITCH HOLD is true
AUTOPILOT VERTICAL HOLD VAR shows the rate of VS.
AUTOPILOT PITCH HOLD is true
Re: Garmin G5 VS Mode
Autopilot vertical hold is false in your last screenshot.
Re: Garmin G5 VS Mode
That is correct in the picture.
What i see is:
AUTOPILOT VERTICAL HOLD VAR shows the rate of VS.
AUTOPILOT PITCH HOLD is true
The vertical hold var is 600,0000.. That is what the autopilot thinks the VS is.. it also corresponds to what scrolling the wheel does on the RealSimGear GFC500.
Can you use the AUTOPILOT PITCH HOLD Instead? and would you know what the difference is?
