AM 4 working with FS2020, update#6?

#1 Post by frumpy »

Hi there,
AM used to work with my FS2020 installation. Now after a pause and updating FS2020 to v6, none of the instruments work anymore - on any aircraft.
Still AM says it's connected to FS2020. I reinstalled the plugin, no change.
Is it just me or did something change with the update?

Thanks, Olli

Hii Olli, just as a thought to consider .. It's always a good idea to do create a 'restore point'' if you use Windows .. from the system protection panel... before any considerable updates.... so as to give you a quick method of jumping back prior to the changes. 'Get out of jail free' card :) .
Hope you get it sorted ok. Hopefully MS hasn't chosen now as a time to self destruct msfs. ;) :?

Thank you, I checked the link - but no luck so far. Tried automatic and manual mode. As you can see on the bottom right of the screenshot, there is a connection between the plugin and FS2020.

The plugin seems to be doing fine. So there's an issue in the network connection somewhere.

It’s you I’m afraid. Working fine here.

Windows likes to do strange things with updates for example :) Did you try with the firewall (temporarily) turned off?

I've had a recurring issue that many folks seem to have where if you shut down the sim or if it crashes, the plugin won't be able to connect with the sim once it's restarted. It will say it's connected to the sim in the lower right corner status bar in AM, but it isn't. I've had a bunch of people bring up this issue both in the MSFS forums and on my YouTube channel comments.

I've found the quick fix for this is to keep a copy of the installer for the most recent plugin readily available on my desktop. When this happens, I just click the plugin installer. It takes about 15 seconds, the plugin reinstalls itself, and connection is restored. You could also go into your system services and manually recycle the service, which would also work. I find the former solution to be quicker and easier.

Is that the latest version of the plugin you are using?

I'm not sure if you're asking me here, but yes. It's the latest version. This disconnection problem has been present since I started AM 4.0 Beta in January. And when AM 4.0 was released, I bought it immediately. This problem has persisted through every plugin since, including the current 3.6 plugin I'm currently using. It has even persisted through a complete Windows reinstall.

If you weren't asking me specifically, sorry for that reply. Didn't mean to intrude on someone else's convo.
