What is weird is that using either the serial monitor in Arduino, or an external terminal program in windows, the Baud rate settings make absolutely no difference. You can set any terminal program baud rate to anything you want and it will still run at a high speed. There is something specific about the pico to do with entering boot-select as it needs a specific baud rate for this. I think it is 1200 for bootsel ? but the behaviour described above (regarding baud rates being ignored) seems to occur in all external terminal progs as well. This is weird as I cannot see how the terminal programs can ignore the baud rate ? - totally baffled.
