G1000 bezel in FSX?

#1 Post by Avenger »

Does the G1000 bezel made by crashtender work with FSX? Do you somehow just pull out the display part of the Garmin g1000 pfd and mfd and stick them in the inside of the bezels? I know of the WIP FS 2020 version but was wondering if the existing version works for Flight Simulator X. Thanks.

Edit: Reason I am asking is because I think you have to buy the Mindstar g1000 addon to get the g1000 display screens and not the bezels to pop out. I’m hoping to find out if it works before putting an investment into it.

The Crashtender G1000 is not just a bezel its an actual G1000 but its quite old now and I think i remember someone saying it had some issues with the latest releases.

You can add G1000 events to our G1000 overlay. But I'm not sure if it is possible to pop-out the G1000 in FSX/Prepar3D, I've never tried it.

Oh okay. I thought that because the MSFS 2020 air manager bezel was being worked on that there was already a FS X version. I guess I can just move the g1000 windows to a second display. Though I won’t be able to use a knobster with it. FS X doesn’t have the secondary display/touchscreen problems that FS 2020 has, does it? I think there is a big window focus problem in 2020. If you focus on a secondary display with FS 2020 elements, your controls don’t work until you move it back to the primary display.

Only X-Plane, you're the first one to mention it in something like 8 years :) I have no clue if you can move them to a different screen and if they stay there, I've never tried it. The FSX G1000 isn't that great...
But you can easily change our overlay to work with FSX, although I'm not sure if all events are available.

FS2020 does indeed have a focus issue. Their software keeps focus, even when the mouse is outside the FS2020 window. It's something they should fix, but as I said before, that will probably never happen. Unless maybe a lot of their users start complaining.

I’m a novice at air manager operations. I think for FS X, I’ll try to put the pop up windows (shift-2,3,4) on different screens. It should work as a temporary measure. For MSFS 2020, I’ll use the g1000 bezel that works with mobiflight.

Looking into this, you need the Mindstar g1000 software in order to rip out the FS X g1000 display and put it in the bezel overlay. And it seems you need the advanced version of the software which costs $350. Not worth it.
