Switch display(s)

#1 Post by Thair.nl »

Is there a way to switch between several displays? What I am thinking of is having a monitor (in my case two touch screens) on which I can choose to display the MIP or the overhead or a pedestal by touching a (virtual) button on the screen(s). All of these displays will have to be present in memory I suppose, but by touching the appropriate "button" you can bring the display you want to the front of the "pile of displays". That way I will not have to buy more displays (for the overhead and the pedestal in my case) and the two displays I have at the moment will suffice (will have to suffice because there is no room for both the overhead and the pedestal monitor).

Greetings,

Could well be solved by using the multiple desktop capability of windows 10, with multiples versions of AM running in the background, each one running a different panel set.
If you are still with win7, you should download a special Microsoft Tool to enable the multiple desktop feature.

Once enabled, you create as many desktop as you like, launch multiple sessions of AM as needed, and finally switch between them using Alt+1,2,3 etc...

Thanks Jacques, great idea. I obviously was not thinking along that line since I made the upgrade to Windows 10 only on my laptop and am now "converting" all my FS PC's (six in total) to Windows 10. I will give it a try and post the results here.

I gave it a (short) try and it is indeed working in the way I want it to be. I just had to remove the animation when switching virtual desktops to get a more realistic switching (instead of sliding). The only drawback (so far) is that you need to use a keyboard shortcut (or mouse) to switch between these virtual desktops. I just need to find a solution in which it is possible to switch desktops from within Air Manager.

More or less Ralph, since I use TWO touch screens monitors (next to eachother) on which normally the MIP for the A2A Cessna 182 will be shown. The question however has to do with a second plane I will soon (I hope) be making instruments for.

This will be the Carenado Dornier Do-228 but not in the standard (analog) setup but in the NG version with glass screens (from Universal). Here the two monitors will normally also show the MIP but by using the virtual display I can swap that MIP display with a display with the pedestal (on the left monitor) and the overhead (on the right monitor). Since I am still busy with coding and perfecting the C182 it will take some time before I can spend the majority of my time to the Do-228 NG project, but to take my mind of the C182 coding I have made some graphics for the glass cockpit of the Do-228 NG.
