Xplane plugin doesn't communicate on a network

#1 Post by JackZ »

Hello to all.

I finally got Xplane and installed it AFTER the install of AM, so I figured out that the Xplane plugin had to be installed manually, as I didn't want a new AM complete install to erase the new gauges I've created or the work in progress.
So I manually installed the Xplane plugin as directed in the Wiki, and the plugin appears correctly in Xplane, under the Xplane plugin menu, and it seems activated and the version number is correct.

But when I try to launch AM on another computer on the same Network, after having checked the Network option and input the correct Xplane server computer's IP address in AM, the data seems not to be transferred for any instrument I choose and even the viewer returns nothing but zeros for the values.
In the setup Tab, I made sure I changed the setting to Xplane, so now I'm sort of out of options.

I have'nt seen nowhere something telling me that the plugin and AM where connected and communicating.AM is installed on both computers, but of course, AM is only running on the remote computer when I'm willing to display some gauges.
To be complete, the communication works perfectly when it's FSX which is running, so I ruled out any network error.

Any hint? Thanks in advance

Hi Jack,

Just to check, are you sure both AM and the x-plane plugin are the same version?
And to rule out, could you temporarily disable any firewalls you have running on your flight simulator computer?

Hope this helps,

Corjan

Did you try to see if it works local? If that works, then the problem is somewhere in the network connection.
Also, I hope you use your local IP and not your internet IP :)

Hello Ralph an Corjan

I Kept on investigating and tried to completely disable the Windows firewall. It worked!
So I quickly figured out that my network was setup as a public network instead of a private one like it should be, so the default firewall rules were blocking outgoing traffic.
I enabled again the firewall, just making sure that the Private network profile was in force, and Voilà!

To relieve the anxiety of guys like me, may I suggest you put somewhere in a future new version of AM a "connected status" flag?
Thanks for your help!

Hi,

same here. I don't know, it worked several times before.
X-Plane is on the rig, WIndows 7 running in admin-mode. IP is ...0.101
and set to AM preferences.
AM is on laptop, working internet connection, firewall disabled for testing on
both computers. AM 2.1.1 plugin on rig and 2.1.1 program on laptop.
I can download instruments from the shop.
Instruments work on the rig.

I don't know, I'm lost here.

You see that the plug-in is active in X-plane?

Yes, active, same version.

I updated both Windows versions and put both firewalls down - nothing.
Tried on a second laptop, same issue. Seems like the rig does not
send any data?

Did you try if it works local, on the same machine as X-plane?

Hi Ralph,

yes, as you can see on the first screenshot. Looks like there is no
network communication coming from the rig.

If it's local then you don't need network. I mean really on the same computer as X-plane.
