AM4 beta is too promiscuous

#1 Post by hairydog »

I've been having some difficulties with AM connecting but not working.

I couldn't work out why, until one day I forgot to start msfs first. Despite the fact that it wasn't there, AM said "connected".

Then the penny dropped: my network has other servers using port 9000 (Squeezebox media streaming). Seems that AM will happily connect to anything that takes connections on 9000. No handshakes to ensure it is a usable connection.

Once I'd worked that out, the fix was easy: specify the IP address instead of leaving it to AM to find it for itself.

I'm not really sure if that's what it does. I also had Air Manager saying it was connected to FS2020 without having FS2020 running. But I don't have a Squeezebox :)
There are a couple of issues in the FS2020 plugin which we still have to fix. That's the next item on the 4.0 to do list.
