I am not a "great" instrument developer, but I have come a long way since my Commodore vic20 displaying "hello world"

One way to have editable custom instruments is with Air Player running on a Windows tablet. I haven’t tried it lately but a while back when 3.0 shipped it was possible to get decent frame rates and I have to believe the tablets have progressed in performance since then. You get your wireless. Device like the Android but with the flexibility you want. Many Windows tablets are dual boot to Android too. Just an idea.
