Micro Connection Help

#1 Post by TangoCharlie »

I’ve flashed a Micro to my system… I think. When first attempting to flash, it pulls up COM20, Channel A. However when I click “flash” it says “closed COM port” access denied.

So I try a couple other COM ports until I find one that runs through the avrdude.exe program. In my case, COM 21.

Looking good as I see Arduino Micro (A) at the bottom of my panel list, and its status is Connected. I then try to add a rotary encoder EXACTLY as Per Russ’s video, and when I turn the dial I get the Windows sound for disconnecting / connecting, the Micro displays “Searching on port COM 21” for a while and is grayed out. It’ll com back seemingly ok, until I turn the dial…

Help?

Are you sure you have it connected correct? Sounds like you're short-circuited'ing the poor thing.

Hi,
Absolutely double check the wiring on the encoder to arduino. Can you list which pins on the arduino are connected to which pins on the encoder module ?
It definitely sounds like a wiring issue from the arduino to the encoder.
