Air Player not discovered

#1 Post by Serge Luke »

I have ran the 4.01 updates to both Air Manager and Air Player yesterday. There was also a Windows update yesterday, which I applied to both PCs.
Now, the Air Manager is not detecting the Air Player.

Any suggestions how to fix this?

In 99% of all cases, as with all connection issues, it's the firewall.

Indeed. It was the firewall, due to Windows update.

This is happening again.

I have added Air Manager to the Firewall rules on the main PC (192.168.254.10), and airplane to the Firewall rules on the second PC (192.168.245.65). The AM is still not detecting each other.

What should I try next to make them talk again to each other?

Check your IP adresses above. Are they correct? If yes. then the 2 PCs are not in the same subnet (192.168.245 vs. 192.168.254)

Ah, that was a typo. They are on the same subnet.

Thought so.

Did you check with your firewall OFF temporarily.

I went into Advanced Settings for the Windows Defender Firewall and created a new rule in "Connection Security Rules" I created Authentication rule for the entire subnet range, 192.168.254.0 - ...255. I already have "Air Manager" in inbound and outbound rules at main PC, and the "Air Player" on the second PC. Then I rebooted both PC, and then finally AM connected to AP.

I'm still not clear if this is permanent fix. Seems intermittent, and eats the time I could be configuring panels or perhaps even running X-Plane. Wish this was more Air Player had some indicators that would help diagnose where the connection stalls.
