JackZ ... you asked: One question: do you remember the overall dimensions of the OVH
Fwd Overhead (click to enlarge)
Aft Overhead (click to enlarge)
So total length (forward-aft) is 675mm + 370mm = 1045
Width = 670mm
A 16:9 TV with 670 mm height would be 1191 mm wide so there would be a bit left over on the TV in the aft.
Full scale would require about a 55" TV by my rough calculations ( 53.8") . The forward and aft overheads have different angles though. The forward slopes about 25 degrees aft to front while the aft overhead is about 17.5 degrees slope. Perhaps 20 degress would be a compromise.
I really think a 80% scale would be good for my purposes and would need a 43" ( or maybe a 46" or 42" since they don't make a 43 I think),

Thanks Russ, and glad to see that you mentioned the dimensions in millimeters instead of inches for us poor European fools

Re: Overhead for the x737
Moving on with the x737 overhead by getting a 42" 4K TV/monitor which I now have a 4K compatible IR touch screen overlay. The graphics are quite sharp and scaled close to life sized. Many klnow as a former RL pi,lot I love touch screens. If the touch screen works well I may change my mind and try using this as a large forward panel monitor, You could get a pretty close to RL scale full main instrument panel for most light airplanes...and no bezels interrupting the panel.

Re: Overhead for the x737
Thanks Russ for the Update!
This screen is gorgeous and close to the ones that can be found in a real procedural trainer.
If feel that maybe the first row of switches (landing lights and the like), which are the most frequently used, could be put in a small panel in front of the touchscreen itself.
I always figured that the special shape of the LL switches where made on purpose so that one can reach them without actually looking at them and recognize them by tactile touch. Could you confirm on that feeling?
So a mix of real hardware and touchscreen is probably the way to go to achieve an affordable configurable cockpit. I know a guy here in France who can make on request custom panels of very high quality. He' s equipped with a CNC and can make them fully back lighted with a led strip, since he's working with acrylic white panels with engravings. He' s starting his business right now, I'll keep you informed about it if you're interested.
What are the references of the screen and the IR overlay you're sourcing?

Great... I was on my To Do list but not enough time so I welcome this kind of initiative. Hopefully he cloned the original and got a new UUID before modifying so it doesn't overwrite the other version in any users instrument folder.

Good Morning
Does anybody have some pictures from the personal overheadpanel construction?
Would be nice to see the different approaches and challenges.

Re: Overhead for the x737
Russ has put this project on shelf for now I believe. We'll see if we can release it next year. We have to focus on the release of 3.0 first.
