Good morning Hugh,
One of the things you are going to need for this project is a suitable bench PSU for testing.
Ideally, it needs to be fully adjustable from 1 to 30V DC, AND fully current limiting (adjustable) - probably up to 3A would be fine. It MUST be adjustable current limiting.
You will need this for testing and experimenting.
I am pretty sure you have all the general stuff - multimeter etc etc ? - you may even have a bench psu .
Also, a good selection of hook up leads and clip connectors and micro-grip connectors for the PSU and multi-meter.
That was my thought of the morning :D
Joe.

Hi Joe
Very good idea. I’ve been meaning to get a bench psu for a while. I will have a peek and see what I can dig up that will be suitable and within budget.

I’ve taken some pics of the AHI for you but I need to re scale then as there are size limits on the forum posts and pm’s

Cheers Hugh

Hi Hugh.
A dual PSU is REALLY nice, but a single will ABSOLUTELY do. There are plenty around.
If possible, don't go above 30V 3A (5A max) - there are so called '10A units' out there, but the regulation and ripple will , unless you pay a lot of money, be totally shite and totally not needed.
Also if possible, definitely go for a linear unit, as opposed to switching PSU. - ie: one with a BFO transformer as opposed to an SMPS.
There are though, some really nice units out there for this kind of stuff. I have seen some nice little units on Amazon UK for around 50 quid. !
If you have a budget of 100 quid or more, then ebay may well turn up a really quality unit from a respected manufacture. It may well be twenty years old but absolute quality.

Hi Joe
I sent you a pm. The pics you wanted and a link to a bench psu that looks about right. They are sat in the outbox so not sure if they have arrived.
Regards Hugh

Not exactly the same, but there's a Alouette museum nearby our office: https://www.alouettemuseumbarneveld.nl/
I hope to visit them soon.
Just to mention the site has moved to https://www.dutchalouettefoundation.org/ (existing redirection)

The gazelle is still there for XP12 : https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/f ... e-gazelle/
... and there's already a very nice Alouette III - SA316B/319B, which came to XP12 some days ago : https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/f ... -iii-xp12/
