Hi,

Started building the Glare-shield,
3D printed the Gull-Wings and used PVC board to create the Glare-shield.

Cut the PVC board and glued into place.

Cut openings for the MCP and efis instrument cables.

Adding the top covers.

Hi,

All glued up. Joints "body filled" and a coat of primer applied to check for blemishes. Lot of work still before I get the quality i want.

Hi,

Thanks for the comments Joe and Ralph.
I have not decided on the screens for the DU's yet. Will probably go with 6x LM185WH1-TLH3 13' screens (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3301410 ... 2e0erLqyJm). However Joe, I did buy the screens for the FMC. I have not fired them up yet.

The discovery of building with PVC board rather than mdf or plywood has speeded up the build. It is easily cut with a sharp knife/blade and very strong. Not to mention the huge weight saving.

The MIP without the DU screens should be completed over the weekend. Then on to the motorized throttle quadrant and it's base. I had previously printed a quadrant some years ago but that one used 28BYJ-48 motors. The new one will use a small NEMA 17. The reason is that when not in motorized mode the stepper acts as a break.

Anyway that project is for June.

Hi Keith,
Why 6 18.5" screens bud ?

Normally folks would use the 18.5" display - the ones you listed are 18.5" diagonal 16:9. One of these is just the right width to cover two of the displays so one on the captains side and one on the F/O side. The clocks can be a complete electromechanical unit or you can also use the 5" units (ZJ050NA) which I think are what you have ?.

The centre screen can't be an 18.5 unfortunately as it will hit the gear lever. :( A 16" monitor or laptop 15.6 panel will fit in the middle, just watch the viewing angles as some are atrocious from the side.
Also the lower DU - in between the FMC's is an oddball and needs to be around 10 or 11" at 4:3 to fit. It end ups fitting in the 'portrait' direction in the lower DU as otherwise it will hit the FMC units. Of course, if you use a dummy FMC on the F/O side you can use a 15.6 unit ok as part of it goes under the FMC on the FO side and iirc give you enough screen to use part of it for the F/O fmc display as well as the lower centre DU.

So you should only need 2 of the 18.5" units.
If you can, make sure they are LED. I have several HP W1972a monitors on a shelf (but back in the UK still - they need to come over here). They are pretty good. LED backlight as opposed to CCL lamp. Once you strip of the case off the monitors you get the really nice PSU board and also the logic board.
If you havent got the panels yet then you may be better buying complete monitors. Just make sure you get LED ones and as little use as possible.
I picked up another pair of HP 18.5's on ebay last week for 54 GBP delivered. I think the HP are the same as the AOC ?.
The Philips are also neat.

these are the ones I got for the FMC and also for the 'chronometers' if needed. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001 ... 1802miyX9G
I have one here next to me and its really neat !.

These are a pair of the HP 18.5s I grabbed a few days back - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165221368619 ... SweKRhr3ri These are LED backlit units. There are pretty good quality. Almost any LED monitor of 18.5" will be identical if it is a TN panel.

Out of curiosity. What are the specifications of the real screens? Size and pixels.
