Looking for someone I can pay to build instruments for me

#1 Post by esmith »

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to get an instrument cluster for a Piper Mirage PA46. I don't have the time to learn to do this myself so I'm looking for someone I can pay to create the Air Manager instruments I need for this aircraft.

Hope someone here can help.

Thanks,

Errol

What you have to ask yourself is how much time you think it would take. Remember you are paying for someone’s time and expertise. It will not be cheap. Did you have a price in mind? I’m not trying to put you off going this route but there have been a few of these requests in the past and it can come down to the expectation of how long and therefore how much this would cost. It’s often not cost effective to do one off’s for individuals unless they are prepared to dig deep.

I have set up a few panels from stock resources. I've read the documentation on creating instruments which gave me a sense of what's involved. I expect to pay for your expertise and time. I just need to know the price. If you are considering my request, please give me a cost estimate.

Thank you.

Before anyone could give a reasonably realistic cost estimate they would need to understand the scope of work. A list of all the required instruments and a picture or two of the panel in question would be useful. Also the aircraft and developer that the instruments need to work with.

Smile... Yup, I guess I should post details. I'll pull together the information and an image of the panel and post it. Thanks for replying.

I'm looking to have 10 gauges created or adapted so the work with the Piper Mirage PA-46. Many of the gauges are already in the available stock Air Manager gauges, but they don't work with the aircraft I purchase from Carnenado. https://store.x-plane.org/PA46-Malibu-M ... p_292.html

The gauges are:
  • MAP
    RPM
    TIT
    FF
    OT
    OP
    CHT
    VAC
    Fuel Quantity
I've attached an image below:

I hope you can help or direct me to someone who can.

Thanks for your responses so far.

Hi

No need to pay anyone for those.
We can walk you through if you are prepared to do a little ground work.
The reason the gauges do not work with the airframe you are using is because Carnenado use custom datarefs.

Install DatarefTool and we will go through each instrument one by one.

Three years ago I was just like you. Today I can do most things. So persist ...

Thanks, Keith for the direction and encouragement.

I'm ready to be a student...

Where do I get the Datareftool?

Is it a plugin to Air Manager, Xplane, or a standalone utility?

Once I get the datareftool and install it what is the first step?

Standing by...

Thanks again!

Russ did a video on it. Let me search for it.

Yes as Keith says that’s not that much of a development job. If I could use the analogy of a plumber it would be akin to replacing a tap or facet as some call it. It really isn’t a full bathroom makeover.

A note for future reference.
If there are any issues it will be the aircraft developer not making the appropriate data available via dataref. Some developers do not. It’s important to check this prior to aircraft purchase really otherwise you could purchase something that can not work. If they don’t provide the required data then it’s a no go.

Hopefully this one has all you need to make it work.
