A lovely piece of history
I was already looking for some time to upgrade. My intention was to choose a base system and then having things replaced and added. There are some harware shops in the Netherlands which have the possibility to let you choose from many options. They build it then for you.
But last Wednesday there was an offer from a supermarket which had all the things I had in mind.
For 1,229 Euro I got a complete system (except monitor) with a Pioneer DVD-(re)writer, a Sony DVD-Rom, Seagate 120 Gb hard disk, Ati Radeon 9600TX, 512 Mb DDR 333 mhz memory, Stereo TV-Radio card, remote control, 3 x Firewire and 5 x USB 2.0, a 5-chanels Dolby sound card, Fast Ethernet 10/100 Mbit, 56K V.9 PCI fax modem, speakers, mouse and key board. And a lot of software: Windows XP, Word 2002, Works 7.0, MS Autoroute 2002 Europe, MS Encarta 2003, Nero Burning Rom 5.5 and a lot of video and audio software.
That was really an offer I couldn't refuse, and best of all, my wife agreed with me

A different world... not worse or better, just how it was and the fun and excitement level were equal to anything produced today.
