Darker background for Community C172 panel

#1 Post by HenriqueJC »

I've been using the C172 community panel andnit works great. I've never tried to edit a panel. I'm beggining to study and see some tutorials.

I have a quick question. If I just want to have a Dark Grey panel instead of light grey one from the community, is this something I can quickly change ir it does need a more complicated editing?

Thank you

Did you check out Tony's YouTube tutorial? It'll give you an idea on what it takes to create instruments.

In this case, if you want changes on the graphics, you'll be doing graphics.

Hi.

You can (to some extent) have a Dark grey panel instead of light Grey in two steps:
1- In the Panel tab, select the whole C172 Panel and change its background color to your liking

2- For each instrument of this panel, deselect(untick) the "background visible" tick mark option

Problem is that some instruments do not have this feature enabled.
You'll end up with a panel like this one:

if you want to have the complete panel in dark Grey (or whatever color), you'll need to modify a few existing instruments, namely the Flaps and the avionics switches panel.

[EDIT] As a matter of fact, You can also remove the background of the switches panel! The option is reversed contrary to the others gauges, one has to actually tick the option to remove the background (weird)
I will modify the code for consistency and will submit the new version of the switch panel.
The only panel left is the flaps indicator (working on it), and the Fuel one, but the fuel one is special (actually placed on the pedestal IRL), so I would simply leave it as is

As promised, the modified Flap gauge, with the background as a user property.

You need to replace the current "GENERIC Flap Indicator" gauge of the panel by the new one, using the same position and size, then remove the existing GENERIC gauge. This gauge has been submitted to the store, in the meantime you can always use this one by importing the SIFF file below.

Once done, you simply change the background color of the panel to your liking

The new panel with the new gauge.
Submitted to the store as well, might take some time, so here's the SIFF file.

And last but not the least, the modified Switch panel, with the user property reversed to be consistent with the other gauges.
Submitted to the store as well

Different panels with only a change of background color.
I completely reworked the graphics and layout of the panel itself, the Flaps indicator and the switch panel
