Apologies if this is in the documentation or in the forums and I have overlooked it. What is the difference in a panel created under the Home tab (let's call then type A panels) and a panel created under the Create/Edit tab (let's call then type B panels). A type B panel seems to be able to contain multiple type A panels (these are called layouts ?). If you add multiple layouts to a type B panel only one will be displayed? Is there a means to show/hide multiple layouts in the type B panels? Why do the user created type A panels not appear in the list of type B panels under the Create/Edit tab.
Thanks, Ken
Confused by panels (two types?)
Re: Confused by panels (two types?)
Hi,
The panels in the first tab are just a collection of instruments. It is a flat architecture:
panel -> instruments[]
The panel plugins in the create/edit are used as a blueprint to create panels from.
It has a more complicated architecture:
panel -> aircraft model[] -> layout[] -> instrument[]
This makes it possible for a panel plugin to support multiple aircraft models and layouts (e.g. for different resolutions, or different instrument configurations).

Normally you don't have to bother with the create/edit tab, only if you are planning on creating panels for the community store to share with others.
