I don’t get why it’s not working for you. I set it to GPS1 and although it’s a 430 overlay it controls the number 1 gps in the C172 which happens to be a 530. If I set it to GPS 2 it controls the C172 430. You have to restart the panel when changing that setting. Are you setting it to GPS 1 and then starting the instrument. All this testing was in create/edit only.

I've tried it here with the standard overlay for the GNS430, no changes, not the version from Tony. Works absolutely fine in the default Cessna 172. So it seems to be something strange on your system...

Guys - a huge thanks for the time and effort in trying to resolve this issue.

I've never tried to run it in the Edit Mode, only when in the active panel with the sim running and the panel showing. I'll try and test in the Edit panel.

Although I haven't edited the script, is it worth me posting the script on here, although that's probably clutching at straws.

If you have downloaded it from within Air Manager then you have the exact same script. Running it from the Home tab or the Create / Edit tab makes no difference.

Ralph,

The issue is the store version (1.09) only controls the 430 (GPS2). It will nt control GPS1 unless the aircraft only has a GNS430 as GPS1. The changes i made as an experiment enable it to also control GPS1 which in the C172 is the 530. The Arrow add-on he's using has 2 GNS 43O's.

The suggestion of trying in create/edit was to make sure the correct one I modified was being tested rather than an older one in the panel.

At least I know I'm not going mad Ralph!

Thanks for explaining the issue with the store version.

One thought ..... the GNS 530 overlay DOES control the GPS1 (430) on the Arrow, and for the moment I'm using the 530 overlay and popping out the 430 screen from the Arrow.

Now, as mentioned before, I'm not a code expert, but is there anyway the 530 overlay code (that works), be tweaked to drive the 430 overlay code to drive GPS 1, even as a stand alone clone?

That’s exactly what my modified version does as an experiment and it works for me. If it’s not working for you I can’t explain why. I can only assume that you are doing something wrong. Again tested in Create/Edit with C172 only.

Hi, i found a solution which works fine with my Carenado PA28 Arrow III in MSFS 2020!

It seems, in this case, the "fn2020_event" for GNS 530 works as GPS1 and the "fn2020_event" for GNS 430 works as GPS2!
So i made a clone from the "Garmin GNS 430 Overlay" and overwrote any line which began with fs2020_event("H:AS430
with fs2020_event("H:AS530
(what means I made a "530" out of the "430")
Now my "Garmin GNS 430 Overlay" works as GPS2 and my "CLONE Garmin GNS 430 Overlay" works as GPS1 with the result that all Button and dials work korrekt :-)

Perhaps this information can help anyone.

Kind Regards,
Frank

Just a little remark:
Beside my writing above, the Clone GNS430 has to be set as "GPS1" and the "normal" GNS430 has to be set as "GPS2" in the settings.
Only then the Buttons "C" and "V" (on the left side for changing standby setting) will work correct for each device, too....

Kind regards,
Frank
PS: I Use Air Manager 4.1.0
